A Weekend with the Bishops

This past weekend we went to go visit our dear friends, Margrett and Lamon Bishop down in Temecula, CA. It was blazing hot so we decided to escape the heat by getting out of town. Saturday we went up to the quaint mountain town of Julian. It's one of our favorite getaways because of it's beauty, simplicity, and famous apple pie, yummy! We had a picnic in a local park and toured the town the rest of the afternoon, it was a splendid day!

More fun with the Bishops...

On Sunday we all piled in the car and headed to the good ole' beach town of Encinitas, Dan and Lamon were itchin to surf at our home break, Pipes, and Dave and Linda and John and Irena joined us as well. The guys all went surfing (I'm not quite up for surfing yet) and us ladies hung out on the beach with Sage. It was a cool cloudy day which was much appreciated after being in the heat of Temecula, we ended the day with a tailgate dinner on the cliffs overlooking the surf below. Thank you Margrett and Lamon for a great weekend!!!

A typical day at home...

Sage's new habits

Sage's new favorite habits are smiling and sucking his thumb/finger/fist. Here's a few candid shots...

Sage's first swim!

While we were in Arizona, we decided to take Sage for his first official swim, he LOVED being in the water and we couldn't stop smiling =)

Good ole' Green Valley, Arizona

We recently got back from a trip to Green Valley, Arizona to see family. Dan's Grandpa Landis passed away and everyone came out to celebrate his life together. It was wonderful to see family and have many hands to hold Sage =). Thank you Grandma for a great visit, it wasn't the same without Grandpa, we miss him dearly, but it was a joy to be with everyone. Here's to great Wizard tournaments and many more to come!

...and last but not least...

A "Live Bait" vending machine...only in Michigan...
We took our first hike with Sage a couple weeks ago, amazing how much more effort it is to hike with a baby strapped to your chest =) We also were able to catch Sage's first time sucking his thumb, so cute!

and even more pics...

More Cedar Campus Pics...

Here's some more pics of our great time at Cedar.  Serena's dad is an expert photographer and we are forever grateful for these incredible pictures!!!

Cedar Campus Family Camp 2008

We haven't blogged in SO long...sorry for the delay.  Our little guy is growing up so fast.  He's now looking us in the eyes and smiling back at us...its pretty cool.  We've been to Michigan and back and are headed to AZ this weekend.  What great adventures we are already having!  At family camp in Michigan Sage got to hang out with his Oma and Opa (Serena's parents, pictured in this blog), his Great Grandma and Grandpa (Serena's Grandparents), his Uncle Chris (Serena's brother), Aunt Christelle, and Cousins Emmy, Cami, Kateri, and Christian.  He also got to hang out with his Grandma (Dan's mom, pictured in upcoming blog), and Grandpa (Dan's dad, also in upcoming blog), and later on his Uncle Pete (sorry Pete, we don't have pictures yet).

Dan and I had a blast finally having and being a family at family camp, we even got to sneak away for a kayak just the two of us =)
